Very friendly welcome by Rick who gave us lots of info for our stay. The room was a good size as was the bathroom and the shower was good and strong. There was a bus stop just a few minutes walk away from which it was relatively easy to navigate much of the city. As far as I could tell fares were $4 each for any distance but included a second either onward or return journey. Although this was supposed to be within 2 hours of the first trip I overheard a driver telling another passenger that they didn't pay too much attention to this time limit. We got a bus card from the main bus exchange at a cost of $5 each. This was then topped up as required and using this would make each trip just$2 and cap daily travel at $4. Certainly worth it if using the buses several times each day over 3 or 4 days. About 3 minutes away was a small array of eateries including Thai, Indian, Japanese and an Irish pub, plus cafes and several shops.

I visited Christchurch for 5 days and stayed at here. I managed to do some R&R but the main purpose of the visit was to have eye checks and surgery at ChCh Eye Clinic/Hospital. Rick, the Motor Lodge owner was fantastic. He took me to all my appointments and picked me up after surgery. He even let me watch TV in a vacant unit until the time of my final check up then I was off to the airport to fly home. On check in he gave me a map of ChCh, pointed out the bus route, places of interest etc. I was very happy in my studio unit. It was super clean and there were abundant condiments. I give this accommodation and service 100% plus.

The Sherborne Motor Lodge, exceeded every expectation you could ever expect. 10/10. The friendliness, hospitality, attention to detail, kindness of staff and location was unsurpassed. No stone was unturned, and nothing was too much of an effort, on every level. I am extremely grateful for the suite/apartment that I had booked online. It far excelled all expectations. So comforting and just knowing that management was there 100%. Rick thank you for helping me in all regards. I would highly recommend staying here with the most wonderful hosts and facilities.

Made to feel welcome. We had a very late arrival time on a flight from Australia. Rick ensured that we were able to access our room once we were dropped off by taxi from the Airport. The rest of the family arrived a day later and were able to access their room early which was much appreciated. Location is great. Easy walking to Botanical Gardens (which are just wonderful) and other attractions in the City. We are staying here again on the way back from Greymouth. Rick is kindly collecting us from the Railway Station.

Ideal location short bus ride from the city center. Exceptionally clean and homely space to enjoy, especially the family room. Great facilities and complementary extras were another bonus (hot chocolate what more can you ask for)!!The hosts were extremely generous and informative, our time in Christchurch would not have been the same without them. Could not have picked a better place to stay beginning our South Island Travels! Thanks again
